The funeral of Daniel Spargo-Mabbs who died after taking ecstacy will be held today.
Family and friends will attend a thanksgiving service in Emmanuel Church, Normanton Road, South Croydon.
Daniel's funeral cortege will pass Archbishop Tenison School, in Selborne Road, this morning so pupils can pay their respects along with teachers and staff.
The 16-year-old, from Addiscombe, was a popular student at the school.
He died in hospital on January 20, after slipping into a coma after taking MDMA at a warehouse rave in Hayes, west London, in the early hours of January 18.
Fiona Spargo-Mabbs, 46, said she always thought that her son Daniel, who wanted to join the Army and then become an English teacher, could "change the world".
She said: "He was just such a fantastic boy and he was such an active part of our lives and we just feel so incredibly blessed to have had him in our lives for getting on for 17 years. He really was special."
