Events industry experts visiting an international exhibition in London will be able to sample a true taste of Croydon thanks to the borough's first commercial brewery for almost 60 years.

The Cronx Brewery will be among the stalls at the International Confex Exhibition on Thursday, March 13 as part of a collaboration with Destination Croydon, which represents hotels and conference centres in the borough.

The New Addington-based brewery began trading in August 2012, and is run by Mark Russell and Simon Dale, who were both brought up in Croydon.

Mr Russell said: “Both Simon and I are proud to have been born and raised in Croydon.

"It’s a great town, with great facilities and unbeatable transport links making it ideally situated for those involved in the events and hospitality sector looking to do business close to London but without the associated high costs.

“This is a great opportunity for us to showcase our products and we would love you to come and join us on stand K49 on March 13 to get a real flavour of Croydon”.

Destination Croydon, a group set up by Croydon Business Improvement District (BID) to promote the town’s hotel and conference sector, will be championing the town’s cause at the event.

Matthew Sims, chief executive of Croydon BID said the town already has a lot to offer with a thriving restaurant quarter and a number of redevelopment projects on the way.

He said: “The huge levels of investment being made in our town, underline its significance as a major strategic location and a destination of choice.

“I would definitely urge anyone who is interested in finding out which locations are on the rise to make sure they drop in to talk to the Destination Croydon team to find out why commentators are tipping Croydon as a ‘hot spot’ for the future.”
