Murder detectives are investigating the death of a man found seriously injured in South Norwood this morning.
Police said they were called at about 7am this morning to reports of a seriously injured man in alleyway by Station Road.
The man, believed to be 37 years old, was taken by ambulance to Kings College Hospital where he died just before midday.
The death is being treated as suspicious and officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Homicide & Major Crime Command are investigating.
A post mortem examination is to follow as is formal identification of the man, but police believe they know his identity.
He is believed to be from the South Norwood area.
DCI Diane Tadway said: “The man was found on his own, severely injured, in an alleyway between an estate agents and a supermarket, in Station Road, South Norwood."
“We do not know. at this time, how he sustained his injuries nor have we established a motive for any attack on him.”

The man was not found with any knife or gunshot wounds.
