A motorist lost control of his car and crashed into a lamp post in South Croydon this morning.
Emergency services were called at 3.30am to Carlton Road, after the Renault Clio came off the road and spilled petrol into the street.
The male driver was not injured in the accident, and was out of his vehicle by the time police and fire crews arrived.
Firefighters spent 20 minutes cleaning the petrol from the road.
