I rang Fairfield Halls recently to book three tickets for a show and was given two price options - £14.00 and £16.00. I chose the lower price and was therefore taken aback to be told that the amount due was £48.75.
Naturally I queried this, thinking that a mistake had been made and was told that there was a booking fee of £2.25 on each ticket. So, in reality the £14.00 tickets actually cost £16.25 each. I was also asked if I would like to have the tickets posted out at a further cost of £0.70! I asked if going to the theatre in person would eliminate this charge and was told that the tickets would have to be paid for in cash only and that there would still be a booking fee of £1.00 per ticket, a saving of £3.25 on the telephone or internet booking. The £14.00 tickets would then actually cost £15.00. I think this is a totally unacceptable and devious way of selling tickets.
