My husband and I attended the appeal meeting about the islamic centre at the Salvation Army Hall in Sutton and I would like to say a very big thank you for the time and care given by the residents representatives but equally I am appalled at the time and money being spent on this case.

The Muslim gentleman who spoke first asked why people felt the Muslim community could not be trusted to carry out their promises that the mosque would not interfere with life in Worcester Park and that they should be able to worship in their own surroundings. We have lived in Worcester Park since 1963 and have seen many, many changes, not always for the better but the worst change is the amount of traffic that uses Central Road and the surrounding roads. We lived in Green Lane for 12-and-a-half years but now live at the top of the high street.

Sometimes it takes us 15-25 minutes just to get from Ruskin Drive to the end of the high street so please it's about time some common sense was used here, the end of Green Lane is not the right place for any meeting place to be either large or very small.
