Croydon artist Yellon Ran Huang in prestigious London show at the Society of Women’s Art

Croydon Guardian: A painting by Yellon Ran Huang A painting by Yellon Ran Huang

An artist whose work is inspired by living in Croydon and modern life has had a ‘prestigious door open’ for her by being selected to show her paintings at an esteemed exhibition.

The show at the Society of Women’s Art was opened on Wednesday by Princess Michael of Kent and Yellon Ran Huang was invited to the private view.

Yesterday the exhibition opened to the public and Ms Huang's two paintings will be alongside the others in the show until it closes on July 5.

She is also excited about a solo exhibition which she is staging in St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square.

Ms Huang said: "I was over the moon and delighted to receive a letter from the president of the Society of Women’s Art, informing me that both the paintings I submitted had been selected from hundreds that they received.

"I applied, not really expecting much back, especially since I was not a member. "So it was a wonderful surprise to have an exciting and prestigious door open for me.

"And the timing couldn't be better; it gives me a chance to showcase some of my works at this national event, before my second UK solo exhibition in St-Martin-in-the-Fields this September."
