Firefighters freed a cat which had got a paw stuck in an iron gate this morning.

When the crew arrived in Norfolk Avenue, Sanderstead, at about 12.50am, the animal was bleeding from its paw and being held in a blanket by a passerby.

The firefighters cut part of the gate away to free the black and white cat and it then scampered off as soon as the passerby let it go.

Who's going to pay for the gate now? I would be livid if it was my gate.

Who cares about the gate? A living creature is far more important. That cat would have needed a vet after that experience.

What would you want then? A dead cat attached by its paw to your gate? Obviously the cat ran off, therefore the owners, who may well have been willing to pay for the gate, won't know what happened. Life's like this sometimes. Hope it found it's way home ok.
