West Croydon will take on a carnival feel on next week when people come together to celebrate their part of town and the changing face of the area.

The carnival of cultures, on Sunday July 20, features a stage in London Road with acts throughout the day and steel bands providing a musical soundtrack at various points in the street.

There will be a wide range of stalls hosted by businesses and community groups, along with fairground rides and other attractions, before a parade starts at 5pm.

Carnival chairwoman Jennifer Coleen Speid said: “With the re-development of the town’s retail centre by the Croydon Partnership, London Road will become the new frontier for anyone looking for diversity to enhance their living and shopping experiences.”

“We look forward to seeing many Croydonians and their families on Sunday for what I promise will be a carnival to be proud of.”
