Buses could return to their old routes running over Spring Lane bridge in Woodside after works to increase the weight capacity were completed.

The services 130 and 312 have been on diversion since spring 2010 after weaknesses were discovered in the structure’s beams.

But after Transport for London (TfL) replaced the deck with one which can cope with weights of 40 tons the bridge has been reopened.

A consultation about whether the buses should return to their original routes ran from June 2 to July 7 and TfL is considering the responses before making a decision.

Do you think the buses should go back to their old routes? Have your say below.

I think they should if you live in the Woodside\South Norwood area you have to get a bus or tram to Croydon then another bus to Thornton Heath, if the bus routes where put back on and extended it would halve the journey time

I don't see why they need to have a consultation on this issue. I thought the reason for this bridge work being carried out, was to allow for buses and commerical vehicles to be able to use the bridge once the work was completed.

I agree with bobbyse25, the routes were diverted while work was fine on the bridge, that work is now done, so the diversions should be reversed

Why does TfL need a consultation? The works are done, the bridge has been fixed. Why was it fixed? To allow the bus to go over it.... Doh!

I agree with all the comments, it does make you wonder what TFL are up too, the actual consultation exercise was not very well published, you never know if very few people responded then it could be used as an excuse not to re introduce the routes, perhaps I'm over suspicious when it comes to consultation exercises.

Ok, the 130 bus is on a long diversion, so should revert to Spring Lane. If buses just go back as they were before, then Lower Addiscombe Road would have 289, 312 & 367 buses + tram from Addiscombe to Croydon Town Centre. Morland Road just 197 bus only for same journey, which can be erratic from previous experience .How is that a fair division of resources, especially after more than 4 years of a service we have got used to?. If it must go ahead, then increase frequency on the 197 bus at least!
