Chris Langridge is one step closer to Commonwealth Games gold in the mixed doubles badminton competition after a comfortable last 16 win over Australia.
The Epsom man, with partner Heather Olver, was too strong for Jeff Tho and Jacqueline Guan winning 2-0 (21-7, 21-10).
They will now face the Canadian pair of Toby Ng and and Alex Bruce today (Friday) at 2.15pm in the quarter-finals.
Langridge said: "To be fair to Australia, they started the second set a lot better than they did the first.
"We got a little bit poor with our tactics and shot selection, which allowed them to do what they wanted in a way.
“The coaches reiterated the point of ‘shot selection’ and ‘think what you’re doing’ and at the break, we won around 10 points in a row.
“It shows for us, when we play the right style we are quite dangerous but when we get lured into a different style or a style that is wrong, we are nowhere near as good.”
