A 20-year-old man from Coulsdon has been remanded in custody after appearing in court to an answer an attempted murder charge.

Ryan Ashby was arrested after police found a 21-year-old man suffering from serious head injuries near the McDonald’s in Brixton Road, Brixton, at about 11.50pm on Sunday night.

The 21-year-old remains critically ill in hospital.

Mr Ashby, of Coulsdon Road, appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Appearing alongside him was Shawn Ayton, 21, from Southwark.

Both men have been remanded in custody before their next court appearance on a date which has not yet been confirmed.
