A girls' school has applied for planning permission to build a new sports pavilion.

The project is part of Croydon High School for Girls's ongoing efforts to improve facilities for the pupils and the surrounding community, which will have access to it.

It coincides with the school celebrating its 140th birthday next month.

If planning permission is granted by Croydon Council, the pavilion will be built next to the school’s artificial hockey pitch and will be surrounded by new pathways and external lighting.

The school has also launched the Croydon High sports pavilion appeal, a two year fundraising programme which aims to raise about £500,000 for the project through sponsorship, donations and fundraising events.

The consultation period is now underway and the target date for a decision is set for October 2. If you wish to view the plans and comment, visit croydon.gov.uk and use application number 14/03317/P
