A pub garden is more often a place for drunken ramblings than educational chat but one buzzing boozer is the exception to the rule.
Children visiting The Oval Tavern in Oval Road, Croydon, have been learning about why the lack of habitat is contributing to the decline of bees.
They have been doing this through stories, arts and crafts, music and hands on activities including creating a garden with big flowers and bumble bee bunting.
The bee week activities are led by Jenny Lockyer, who runs the pub’s storytime sessions on Saturdays.
She said: "We wanted to do it because we want to help the bees and because children love getting their hands dirty in the garden and it seemed to go together really well."
Sessions are running all week. Go to theovalcroydon.co.uk for details.
