After five consecutive world titles, Epsom sailor Alexandra Rickham has finally relinquished her crown at the 2014 IFDS Disabled Sailing Combined World Championships.
Rickham, with sailing partner Niki Birrell finished runner up to Australian duo, and London 2012 Paralympic gold medallists, Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch in the Scud 18 class.
There was good news for the GB pair however, as their performance in Halifax, Canada, secured qualifcation for Rio 2016.
Rickham said: “At the end of the day, we knew it was going to be difficult [to win here].
“We already have five world titles – the only one that we really care about now is Rio, and this is all part of the learning towards that.”
