Can physics ever be funny? Well, this one-man show by actor and comedian John Hinton is aiming to answer that question with an emphatic yes, writes Harvey Day.

Performed as a spoof performance lecture by none other than Albert Einstein, Hinton looks to explain his most famous theory, filled with science-themed jokes and puns, to delight science and comedy fans alike.

Described as “a treasure” and “something close to brilliance” by The Times, the show has attracted the attention of QI creator John Lloyd who called it “the cleverest – and certainly the funniest – explanation of the Theory of Relativity I know.”

Join Albert, the genius with the coolest moustache in the history of science, for a lecture like none you’ve ever attended.

The eccentric theoretical physicist is accompanied by his two wives and mum on the piano, and by guest rapper MC Squared, as he quantum leaps through two world wars, two theories of relativity, and the deployment of two very big bombs. Hinton has toured internationally playing such roles as Charles Darwin, Frankenstein’s monster and God.

He has also performed his current play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to rave reviews across the board.

Expect hilarious musical numbers, lots of audience participation and even the chance to brush up on your theoretical physics. Warning: features the wurst sausage joke in comedy.

There are also some poignant moments when Einstein realises the consequences of his discoveries – just as Alfred Nobel invented dynamite, Einstein’s E=MC2 regrettably laid the foundation for the invention of the atomic bomb.
