Police were called to reports of a shooting at a pizza restaurant last night.

The front window of the takeaway restaurant, Basilico, in Lavender Hill, Battersea, is shattered.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “We were called to reports of a possible firearms incident but there appears to be no evidence of that.

“Officers have done a lot of searches down there but there is no evidence that a gun shot was fired.

"Enquiries continue to establish how the window was broken and the circumstances in which this took place."

Your Local Guardian:

No-one was injured during the incident. It is unknown how the restaurant glass became shattered.

Will Martindale, Labour's Parliamentary candidate for Battersea, said: "During the Clapham Junction riots, Basilico saw its shop window smashed.

"Last night's shooting, if that's what it was, is a scary reminder. I hope the police can catch those responsible because Battersea is trying to move on from the devastation of the riots and criminal acts like this will not be tolerated in our community.

"Basilico, I'm sure, will pick itself up and continue to do well"
