Referee Mark Clattenburg will not be on the whistle this weekend after being axed by the Premier League.

Clattenburg has been reprimanded for making a quick get away after Crystal Palace’s 2-2 draw at West Brom – so he could attend an Ed Sheeran concert.

Palace boss Neil Warnock wanted to question Clattenburg over decisions he felt cost the Eagles all three points, but he had to do it over the phone as Clattenburg was hot-stepping it to Newcastle.

Maybe he was keen to catch the supporting acts of Jamie Lawson and Saint Raymond?

Referee regulations, set down by the Professional Game Match Officials Ltd, stipulate that officials must remain at the ground for any post match discussions with managers.

Warnock was angry at Clattenburg’s decision not to award a penalty to Wilfried Zaha, and then not take action against Craig Dawson when the Baggies defender elbowed Julian Speroni in the build up to his side’s first goal.
