Memorial services to remember all those who lost their lives fighting for their country are set to take place across the borough, with the added poignance of the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War One.
The borough’s main service of remembrance will be held in the Concert Hall, Fairfield Halls at 10.55am on Sunday, November 9, with guests asked to be seated by 10.45am.
After the service, the mayor of Croydon, Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed, will lead a wreath laying ceremony at the cenotaph in Katharine Street, at 12.15pm.
At 1.30pm wreaths will be laid at RAF Kenley Tribute at Kenley Aerodrome.
Coun Shahul-Hameed and the chairman of Tandridge district council, Coun Elizabeth Parker, will lead the service.
On Armistice Day (November 11) the Royal British Legion will be holding a wreath-laying ceremony at the cenotaph in Katharine Street, Croydon.
And at 7.30pm on November 14 London Mozart Players is holding the London premiere of For an Unknown Soldier: A Cantata of Remembrance at Fairfield Halls to mark the centenary of the First World War World War.
