Prepare yourself for thrills as blood spills in Britain’s longest running production, Dame Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, as it comes to Croydon, writes Danielle Lowe.

Watching the play is an opportunity not to be missed as in its 60-year history, despite racking up 25,000 performances, it has never had the chance to grace Croydon, as this is the first time the production has ever done a UK-wide tour.

Based on a short story, which itself is based on a radio play, the story tells of a group of strangers stuck in a guest house due to a snow storm amid a murder investigation that quickly sees the guests involved in a second terrible crime.

As the story progresses, secrets are laid bare and the audience are pulled into a classic whodunnit, with every character a possible suspect, building towards a famous plot twist.

In her own inimitable style, Dame Agatha Christie has created an atmosphere of shuddering suspense and a brilliantly intricate plot where murder lurks around every corner.

As the West End stage brings this Guinness World Record Books placed play to Fairfield Halls the audience can expect to be taken on a chilling detective with the cast as they try to figure out who exactly the murderer is with top quality acting and impressively built and presented props.

After receiving the royalties at aged nine Agatha Christie’s grandson Mathew Prichard CBE has kept Christie’s plots going ever since, to help raise money for charities across Britain, and is chairman of the brand Agatha Christie Ltd.
