Twenty firefighters fought a blaze in Wimbledon in a block of flats this afternoon.
Four fire engines raced to a block of flats and offices in Arthur Road at 12.20pm after a loft flat caught alight.
The road was closed while officers took more than an hour to extinguish the blaze.
A man suffering from smoke inhalation, who had already escaped from the building when police arrived, was taken to hospital by London Ambulance.
It is understood no-one else was injured.
The roof of the flat was damaged.
Firefighters from New Malden, Wimbledon, Bromley and Battersea attended.
