More than a year of water supply problems in the Norwood and Crystal Palace areas look to be coming to an end.

People have been seething at Thames Water because they never know whether there will be water when they turn the taps on.

To deal with this problem the water company has made improvements to the Crystal Palace and Norwood pumping stations.

These include upgrading of the pumps that push water around the network of pipes and improving the way the two stations are synchronised.

It is also installing new generators at both sites to reduce the impact of power cuts.

Work is due to finish in June.

A Thames Water spokeswoman said it has a customer guarantee scheme so if people are eligible they will be automatically compensated.
