An army sergeant will stand trial after being accused of raping and sexually assaulting women and girls as young as 15 at barracks in Croydon and Cheam.

Edwin Mee, a 45-year-old father of five, currently serves in the British army.

He will stand trial accused of attacking 11 people aged between 15 and 25.

Mr Mee, who is listed as living in Tavistock Road, West Croydon, but now understood to be living in Scotland, was before Southwark Crown Court on Friday, February 27, for a plea and case management hearing.

He is charged with 20 sex offences including counts of rape, sexual assault and digital penetration between November 2010 and September 2011. It is alleged that the attacks were carried out while he served as a recruitment sergeant.

Judge Alistair McCreath QC bailed Mr Mee, who denies the charges, ahead of his trial on April 7.
