Six fly-tippers have been named and shamed by Croydon Council as part of its ongoing campaign to clean up the borough’s streets.

They must pay a total of £2,165 after being prosecuted at Croydon Magistrates’ Court last week.

Ermalee Solomon, of Bygrove, New Addington, dumped rubbish in her street on September 9 last year.

The 37-year-old has been fined £100, as well as being made to pay £150 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Derek Melbourne, 51, has been made to pay a £35 fine, £50 costs and a £20 victim surcharge for fly-tipping in his street Elmside, New Addington.

Radek Demeter was prosecuted for two separate offences of fly-tipping in Central Parade, New Addington, on October 14 and December 14 last year.

The 37-year-old, of Central Parade, has to pay a fine of £500, £150 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Roshan Jeewon, of Woodside Green, South Norwood, has been fined £200 for dumping in Woodside Green on September 1 last year.

The 23-year-old must also pay £150 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Garry McMullen dumped rubbish in his street Portland Road, South Norwood, on September 14 last year.

The 63-year-old must pay a £200 fine, £150 costs and a £20 surcharge.

Also given the same financial penalty of a £200 fine, £150 costs and a £20 surcharge is Jacqueline Roberts.

The 53-year-old, of Dunley Drive, New Addington, dumped rubbish in nearby Frimley Close, on October 24 last year.

Croydon Council’s cabinet member for Clean and Green Croydon Councillor Stuart Collins said: "This council is tackling environmental crime head-on, from spitting in the street to people dumping tonnes of waste.

"Part of our campaign is about making fly-tippers think twice about blighting Croydon’s streets - and if they didn’t before, they should now.

"These fly-tippers aren’t the first we’ve prosecuted in this campaign, and they won’t be the last; we have dozens more cases awaiting court dates."
