Emergency services were called to Streatham High Road at the junction with Green Lane at about 7.50am on Sunday and the three occupants of a silver Mercedes E-class were taken to hospital.

The driver, a 22-year-old woman, is in a serious but stable condition with a chest injury.

She was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and possession of a class A drug.

She was not taken into custody and remains in hospital.

The front seat passenger, a 27-year-old man, has a foot injury, the rear seat passenger, also a 22-year-old woman, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition with a back injury.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Phil Hames said: "We understand the car was travelling along the A23 and on Streatham High Street prior to the collision.

"So we are appealing for people to contact us who remembers seeing a 2008 model Mercedes E-Class travelling on these roads prior to 7.50am on March 29.

"A number of witnesses who saw the collision have already spoken to us, but we continue to appeal for anyone that hasn't spoken to us to do so."
