FORMER world boxing champion Scott Harrison fought off a bid by the taxman to sequestrate him over a bill for more than £83,000.

A judge agreed to grant a continuation in the case for 10 weeks to allow him to sell a house to settle his tax bill.

Counsel for HM Revenue and Customs, Iain Artis, asked the Court of Session in Edinburgh to award sequestration against Harrison, of Cambuslang, near Glasgow.

But Lord Turnbull said: "I think it is reasonable for me to take account of the history of the case."

He told Harrison, 29: "You have put the house on the market and are genuinely seeking to sell it.

"I am satisfied I should give you a further opportunity to obtain that aim."

The Revenue raised proceedings against the ex-WBO featherweight title holder over an outstanding debt of £83,778.
