Three teenagers have been cleared of raping girls with learning difficulties, including a 17-year-old with Down's syndrome said to be unable to consent to sex.
Nasir Huq, Ameen Noori and Ahmed Faiq, all 18, were found not guilty yesterday afternoon of sexually assaulting two girls at a flat in Croydon in April 2013.
Mr Huq, of Neville Road, had been on trial at Croydon Crown Court accused of raping the "trusting" teenager with Down's syndrome who prosecutors claimed did not have the mental capacity to understand or consent to sex.
He admitted having sex with the girl but said he believed she had consented.
Mr Noori, of St James's Road, Croydon, and Mr Faiq, of Parry Road, South Norwood, were alleged to have raped a second girl, then aged 16, who had stayed overnight with the older girl at Mr Huq's flat.
A jury cleared Mr Noori of rape and two charges of attempted rape. They cleared Mr Faiq of rape and attempted rape and Mr Huq of rape.
