Pop star Dane Bowers faced court today accused of assaulting his glamour model ex-fiancée.

The former Another Level singer, 35, appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court this morning charged with attacking Sophia Cahill, 31, at his home in South Croydon.

He denies assaulting the former Miss Wales in Kingswood Way, Selsdon, on January 29.

The couple broke up last year after she reportedly found pictures of other women on his phone.

In July, Mr Bowers appeared as a prosecution witness in the trial of Welsh rugby player Ian Gough, who was also accused of assaulting Miss Cahill, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his son. 

Mr Gough was found guilty of the assault but the conviction was overturned on appeal earlier this year.

Mr Bowers, born in Sutton and a former BRIT School student, rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of boy band Another Level, who had with hits including Freak Me.

After going solo, he scored hits with Out Of Your Mind, a duet with Victoria Beckham, and Another Lover.

He went on to appear in Celebrity Big Brother in 2010.

His trial was postoned until a later date.
