Will the works going on in the town centre ever be finished?
We have bits of streets taken up and replaced by holes – and then if we are lucky repaved until they run out of slabs so put a bit of Tarmac in the space where a perfectly good slab used to be.
We have drilling and banging from above as works take place to fill the sky with mostly ugly skyscrapers. I wish more attention was paid to the look of these buildings before they are given permission to start work.
We will soon have bulldozers and diggers brought in to demolish part of the town centre for the new shopping centre.
This is supposedly progress and the developers would say we should be happy that they are making money in our town.
Everyone has the right to make a living, but I just wish I did not have to spend part of my day on a diversion or with the constant sound of building works.
They say my house will massively increase in value when Westfield opens and I really hope it does. Until then though I just want it to be a place I can spend a few years in peace and quiet.
