Detectives are investigating the theft of a rare ginger lamb from Crystal Palace Park.

The three-month-old Portland sheep was snatched from Capel Manor College's farm on Sunday night or the early hours of Monday morning.

The lamb, which has a ginger coat and horns, weighs between 20 and 25kg and is valued at about £130.

The Portland breed was once among Britain's rarest and is still classed as at risk by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, which helped to rescue it from extinction in the 1970s.

The college's farm, which also houses ponies, rabbits and reptiles, is used by veterinary and agriculture students and is also a popular attraction for schools and families.

Anyone with information on the theft can contact Bromley detectives on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting reference 3815907/15.
