Youngsters came through the qualifying rounds of four different sports at the weekend's London Youth Games.

Sutton teams in female hockey, male and female squash, male table tennis and badminton, got through the opening stages on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14, and will head to the finals in Crystal Palace in July.

Stuart Burki, team manager for the female squash team was delighted with their performances on the day including three 3-0 wins in the group stage.

It gives the borough the opportunity to win the female squash title for the fourth year in a row.

Mr Burki said: "Very excited especially for the girls, primarily for the girls, because they put a good effort in.

"Never easy coming to the London Youth Games and playing squash because there's a good mixture of teams here so to now be in the final and for the fourth year in a row is very good and we'll obviously try and defend their title when we get there in July.

"On paper we should be able to defend it but as we know in any sport every person has their day and we just hope that we can carry on our good form and hopefully win it again."
