Hundreds of children could be become recording artists, lending their voices to a piece commissioned in commemoration of those who died during World War 1.

Croydon-based orchestra the London Mozart Players joined with more than 300 children from Portsmouth Grammar School and Croydon primary schools, Monks Orchard, Ecclesbourne and Croydon Parish Church to play For an Unknown Soldier at the Fairfield Halls in November.

The piece was commissioned from composer Jonathan Dove especially for the event.

Now the orchestra hopes to bring this huge ensemble together once more to record the piece in a studio in September.

To do so they must raise £21,000 and have begun a crowd-funding drive which has already seen 62 backers pledge more than £4,600.
