Hampton School’s first VIII pulled off one of the upsets of the Henley Royal Regatta this week as they beat 2007 Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup champions and one of this year’s favourites Shrewsbury School by three quarters of a length on the event’s opening day on Wednesday.
Hampton, who have reached semi-finals day in each of the past three years, lost to much-fancied Westminster School – winners of this year’s Schools Head and National Schools Championships – in the following round yesterday (Thursday).
