An adventurous dog had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck in mud at Crystal Palace Park.
The pooch, appropriately named Scruffy, bit off more than he could chew when he squeezed through a fence in a locked drainage compound inside the park.
A fire crew from West Norwood station were called at 8.20am yesterday and took half an hour to free the dog from the sticky gloop.
Scruffy was injured - although left with his tail between his legs - and returned home with his owner following a quick bucket bath.
Scruffy by name, scruffy by nature
