A pop-up cinema, a bar, live music and even yoga could be coming to the roof of a town-centre car park.

Promoters want to transform the top level of the NCP car park in Dingwall Road, with live music and food also part of the plans.

Events management company Cellar Door has applied for a licence to run the open-air cinema on Thursdays to Sundays from July 30 this summer.

It has previously screened films atop a car park in Ealing.

Films would be between 7pm and 11.15pm at Dingwall Road with audiences listening through wireless headphones, providing Croydon Council's licensing team approves the proposal.

Tickets would be sold online ahead of screenings.

Cellar Door said it also wanted to "encourage social use of the site at weekends", including rooftop yoga sessions and circuit training classes.

The promoter plans to approach Croydon buskers and college students, including those at Croydon College, to provide acoustic music during the day.

It received no noise complaints during the two years it ran the Ealing rooftop cinema, according to papers submitted to the council.

Cellar Door has not revealed which films it would show in Croydon. But the Ealing pop-up, which operated during August 2013 and August 2014, screened classic and cult flicks including The Graduate, The Big Lebowski, Breakfast at Tiffany's and The Artist, as well hosting a Bollywood night.
