A Croydon man has been arrested by detectives investigating a string of armed robberies on banks and betting shops.
The 32-year-old was detained in Lewisham yesterday morning after police issued a public appeal over 13 robberies across south London during August and the beginning of this month.
Nine of the robberies were in Lewisham, three were in Greenwich and one was in Bromley.
Branches of Paddy Power, Betfred, Coral, HSBC and Ladbrokes were among those targeted, with the most recent robbery taking place at a William Hill in Deptford on Wednesday night.
The man was arrested at 11.20am and remains in custody at an east London police station.
