Police are investigating the discovery of human remains at a house in Purley.
Tent: Inside the driveway
The body parts, believed to include a skull, were found just after 3pm yesterday at a house in Foxley Lane.
Detectives are to call in specialists to analyse the remains, which are currently being treated as "unexplained".
The remains were found buried in chalk about 8ft deep in the driveway of the house, at the corner of The Bridle Road.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "At this stage this is being treated as unexplained and officers retain an open mind in regards to the circumstances."
Croydon officers are investigating the finding and a police cordon and forensics tent are in place outside the house.
A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "I came back last night to find it like that. My friend had rung me to warn me there was a police tent up.
"I don't know what they found but it must have been there a long time to be underneath chalk."
In April last year, landscape gardeners unearthed a human skull and femur while working outside a house in Riddlesdown Road, Purley.
The bones were found by anthropologists to date back to the Anglo-Saxon period.
