For the third year in a row, Carshalton’s Jan Reynolds claimed the ladies singles title at the National Visually Impaired Tennis Championship last week.
After successive women’s singles titles at the championships in 2013 and 2014, Reynolds claimed the B4 title in style, winning three of her four round-robin matches 4-0, 4-0.
She then dropped her only three games in the event to runner-up Rosine Pybus during a 4-1, 4-2 final win against the Darlington player.
Meanwhile, Odette Battarel has been named volunteer of the year at the Tennis Foundation Blind & Visually Impaired Tennis Awards.
It capped a good week for the recipient of the 2012 Active Wandsworth Mayor’s award for her work with the blind and partially sighted.
Battarel was already celebrating winning the women’s doubles with partner Amanda Green at the National Visually Impaired Tennis Championships in London.
