A man was being treated for "life-threatening injuries" after a four-way crash in Shirley this afternoon.
Police were called today just before 3.30pm to reports of a four-vehicle crash in Verdayne Avenue.
A man was still being treated for "life-threatening injuries" by paramedics at the site of the crash just after 6pm, a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said.
The crash involved at least two vans and took place near the junction of Wickham Road and Westway Gardens, opposite the entrance to Verdayne Avenue, a London Fire Brigade spokesman said.
Two of the vehicles involved in the four-way crash had departed after their drivers left details with the police, according to the Met.
One social media user said she saw a man being "cut out" from a vehicle by emergency services.
