A Royal Mail lorry became impaled on scaffolding in Croydon last night after making a turn in Sumner Road.
The articulated lorry clipped scaffolding poles and one punctured its coverings shortly after midnight last night, firefighters said.
Firefighter Gavin Shipley, of Norbury fire station, said: "It caught the back of the van and a bit of scaffold pole went through.
"We had to cut the pole out.
"The scaffolding guys came out and checked it all, and most of it was intact."
No one was hurt in the crash, Mr Shipley said.
