An exhibition paying tribute to the generations of families who have traded at Surrey Street market is to be launched this week.

The black and white photography display has captured the private lives of Surrey Street traders - some of whom have been trading at the historic market for half a century.

The exhibition will be launched at the Hilton Hotel in Waddon Way on Friday, May 18, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. It will also include the launch of the Surrey Street Cookbook, created to complement the exhibition.

Jeanne-Marie Eayrs, who has organised the project with fellow artist Susan Beresford, said: "There's such a rich history in Surrey Street. Some of the traders have been there for 40 or 50 years and are from generations of traders who have had a pitch at Surrey Street. We wanted to pay tribute to this."
