Winner - Roger Southam

Sponsored by Crystal Palace Football Club

Roger formed Chainbow in 1989, initially to specialise in shopping centre asset management.

Upon moving to the residential sector two years ago, Roger was shocked by the lack of professionalism and poor levels of service afforded to owners.

Used to being accountable to commercial clients, he set about turning residential property management on its head, by providing the highest levels of service to owners, and ensuring transparency in all financial dealings.

Chainbow now manages more than 2,300 units across 20 developments.

Roger is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and an adviser to the government on administrative burdens upon businesses for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs.

He has contributed to Government papers on stamp duty, taxation, disability discrimination and red tape.

He is chairman of the Chartered Surveyors' Training Trust, the industry organisation which provides surveying apprenticeships to young people, and a member of the Institute of Residential Property Management.

He contributes to industry debates, is a trade press and newspaper columnist, and actively lobbies the government on issues affecting the residential management sector.
