Elmbridge police have launched a manhunt for a 35-year-old on the run from being returned to prison.

Jimmy Tippett, 35, from West Molesey, is being sought in connection with a domestic assault which occurred in East Molesey in April.

Having breached his licence granted in January, police are keen to return him to prison.

Detective Inspector Mark Daughters said officers had made exhaustive enquiries locally and were now asking the public to help locate him.

Tippett is known to frequent the borough, in particular Molesey and Walton, and also has connections all over Surrey.

"We would like to speak to Jimmy Tippett in relation to this incident and we are appealing to members of the public to help us in our search," D Insp Daughters said.

"He is now also wanted on a recall to prison following this breach of his licence.

"He has indicated to us that he may consider handing himself in and I would urge him to do so at the nearest police station at the earliest opportunity."

Tippett is described as medium build, 5ft 6in and speaks with a southern accent.

Anyone who has seen Tippett or who believes they know his whereabouts is urged to call PC Clare Shute at Walton police station on 0845 125 2222 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
