Fans of Morden Indie group Good Shoes will be pleased to hear the band will perform a secret gig on Bank Holiday Monday.

The homecoming show will be held at a Morden landmark on May 28 and follows the release of their debut album Think Before You Speak.

The record features a track ode to their home town and paints a bleak picture of Morden, referring to racism, drug dealing and suicide.

The band, formed by lead singer Rhys Jones and guitarist Steve Leach, saw their first single, Small Town Girl, released in 2005.

More recently The Good Shoes topped the NME chart with Never Meant to Hurt You, knocking Maximo Park's Our Velocity off the top spot.

Although Rhys and Steve started life as a two-piece band they were later joined by former Raynes Park High School pupil, Joel Cox on bass guitar and Rhys' brother Tom Jones on drums.

The band, signed to Indie label Brille Records, put together the album after travelling to Sweden.

According to the band's MySpace page they support Amnesty International and Green Peace and count Bjork, David Bowie and Queen among their favourite artists.

For a chance of attending the secret show, fans must sign up to the Good Shoes mailing list at their official site www.goodshoes.co.uk An announcement will be emailed to members at 9am that day, confirming full details.

Morden is released on June 11.
