Members of the Probus Club of Purley are mourning the recent loss of two stalwart members, Sir Campbell Fraser and Reg Quaife.

Sir Campbell passed away earlier this month. He had been a member of the club, which provides a regular social meeting point for retired or semi-retired business and professional men, for a number of years and was one of its greatest supporters.

A distinguished industrialist and academic, he was a past chairman of Dunlop Rubber Co, Scottish Television and the Confederation of British Industry.

Mr Quaife died on March 30.

He had a background in the insurance industry and was a member of the club for 20 years, during which time he had been vice-chairman and chairman.
