Twickenham Ladies fell 17 runs short of their target in their third league game of the season away to Brighton and Hove.
Brighton, put into bat, were unable to cope with the bowling of Denise Orford, who took 5-13 from just five overs, and Ann Baker (2-29). But a defiant 87 by opener Sian Price enabled Brighton to make 154.
In reply, Twickenham found themselves in trouble at 101-8 despite Karen Wilton's 29 and Orford's 20. Theresa Hollingsbee and Nan Haggerty put on an excellent ninth wicket partnership of 35, but Hollingsbee lost her wicket in the 38th over with Twickenham 17 runs adrift.
This week Twickenham Ladies take on Shepperton at The Green in a non league match.
