A car fire has closed two lanes of the M25 and is causing heavy delays.

From last night: Peugeot 5008 completely destroyed after catching fire before driver could pull over on M25 near Reigate and Leatherhead

The car is on fire on the hard shoulder of the M25 anticlockwise, just before junction 11 at Chertsey and is causing queues as far back as five miles.

Surrey Police and Surrey Fire and Rescue are at the fire and normal traffic conditions are expected by 8.15am.

Commuters are being warned to be careful as smoke is blowing across the busy motorway, blocking drivers’ vision.

Congestion is back to Junction 13 at Staines.
