A man accused of punching a 96-year-old pensioner on a tram appeared at Croydon Crown Court today.
Steven Gordon, of no fixed abode, attended a plea and case management hearing, but the case has been adjourned until June 26 while the Crown Prosecution Service awaits psychiatric reports.
Gordon, 43, who arrived at the court with a carer, was wearing a white jacket, green shirt and black rolled up trousers.
The pensioner, who can only walk with the aid of two sticks, had been traveling between Sandilands and East Croydon on December 14 last year when he was hit.
As the tram approached East Croydon the victim was punched in the face - an attack which left him blind in one eye.
