One of Croydon Council's most senior officers is set to become the authority's temporary boss.
Jo Negrini, the council's executive director of place, will meet with the appointment committee next Thursday ahead of Nathan Elvery's departure on June 24.
Last month current chief executive Mr Elvery announced he was stepping down from the £180,000 a year role to take charge at West Sussex County Council.

A spokeswoman for Croydon Council confirmed today that Ms Negrini is the only candidate being interviewed for the position of interim chief executive.
Ms Negrini joined the council in 2014 as executive director of development and environment, after previously working for Lambeth and Newham councils.
Mr Elvery has been with Croydon Council for 12 years, occupying a number of senior roles.
He became temporary chief executive in 2013, succeeding Jon Rouse, and was appointed into the role permanently in July 2014.
