A man has been arrested in Thornton Heath after a string of sex attacks on lone women.

The three attacks, which have been forensically linked, took place in Streatham and Norbury.

Police arrested the 28-year-old in Thornton Heath yesterday. He remained in custody a south-west London police station this afternoon.

The first of the attacks took place at about 10pm on December 20, when a 29-year-old woman was attacked from behind in Challice Way, Streatham.

The attacker punched her, knocking her to the ground, and assaulted her until he was interrupted by a member of the public.

Several hours later at 1am on December 21 the same man is believed to have followed a 20-year-old woman along Streatham Common South and into Convington Way, where he forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her before running away.

A third attack took place in Norbury at 2.30am on March 27. A woman in her 20s was walking along Granville Close when she was attacked from behind and sexually assaulted.
